CREO Is Community Sponsor of COEXISTENCE Exhibit
Tuesday, April 27, 2004

From May 3 through July 6, 2004, the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts is bringing to the Twin Cities one of the world’s most unusual, visually powerful, and thought-provoking exhibitions: COEXISTENCE. Minneapolis and Saint Paul are two of nine US cities for this extraordinary event, which began in Jerusalem in 2001 and since has toured cities from Sarajevo to Berlin, Belfast to Cape Town, Paris to Miami.

Mounted in outdoor public spaces on giant billboards, COEXISTENCE showcases images by 42 international artists from 19 different countries exploring issues of coexistence, peace, and understanding. The images are represented alongside provocative reflections on coexistence by poets and sages from around the world and across the ages, translated into English, French, German, and Spanish.

Recognizing the distinct make-up of the new immigrant populations in Minnesota, the Twin Cities Exhibit will also feature Hmong and Somali translations of the different quotes. As our contribution to the Exhibit, CREO International has produced a booklet with the Hmong and Somali language versions, which will also be available on the Exhibit Website. "CREO is committed to enabling communication between people from different cultures who speak different languages. Our work has made us keenly aware that successful communication requires an understanding of each other at a level that goes beyond the exchange of words," says CREO managing director, Christa Tiefenbacher-Hudson. "This is why CREO is proud to be a sponsor of this event." The Exhibit, in the words of curator Raphie Etgar, "intents to highlight in a creative way the art of living together. Here we see art as a language with no boundaries. It is ... universal and it speaks to all ages, to all religions and to all nationalities."

CREO International is a leading multilingual, multicultural communications agency based in Minneapolis. By integrating languages with strategic marketing and multicultural design, CREO has provided strategically driven creative solutions and practical multilingual communication tools to companies who want to reach international and US ethnic markets since 1991.
