Christa Tiefenbacher-Hudson, a native of Stuttgart, Germany, and Minnesota resident of nearly 30 years, has been appointed to be the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Minneapolis. She was sworn in during a ceremony held at the University of St. Thomas on March 23.Christa Tiefenbacher-Hudson is the co-founder and managing director of Minneapolis-based TripleInk, a multilingual marketing communications agency and division of Martin-Williams, Inc. In her work, she has been committed to promoting business and trade between American and German companies, and as a volunteer she has worked to advance German culture and heritage throughout the region. She is past president of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, Minnesota Chapter, and currently serves on its board of directors. She also is on the Advisory Board of the Center for German and European Studies at the University of Minnesota. In 2004 she received the Ambassador’s Friendship Award of the Federal Republic of Germany for her efforts.
The Honorary Consul in Minneapolis reports to the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chicago, Onno Hueckmann, who has jurisdiction for the Midwest region which also includes the Honorary Consuls in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Des Moines, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Louisville, St. Louis and Waterford.
The office of Honorary Consul Tiefenbacher-Hudson will be located in the RBC Plaza at 60 South 6th Street, Suite 2800, in downtown Minneapolis and will be open two days a week. Consular responsibilities will include promoting German-American relations and providing assistance to German and American citizens in matters related to Germany. The jurisdiction of the Honorary German Consul in Minneapolis includes Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and the counties of Pierce, Polk and St. Croix in Wisconsin.
